The aldermanic-city form of municipal government is made up of two aldermen per ward elected for a four-year term. Terms are staggered so that half of the aldermen are elected every two years. The population of the city determines the number of aldermen. Under the aldermanic form of government, the mayor is the chief executive officer. The mayor, city clerk and city treasurer are elected to four-year terms.
